Key Takeaways

  • Best Overall Lazy Job: Pet Sitting ($5-15/hour) โ€” This work is flexible, easy to get, and requires almost no actual work besides feeding.ย

  • Highest Paying Lazy Job: Renting a Room ($40-150/day) โ€” If you have the space to rent, this can earn you thousands a month.ย

  • Easiest Lazy Job to Start: Paid Gaming ($5-25/hour) โ€” You can start earning money from paid gaming in less than five minutes with a smartphone.ย

If you're lazy like me, then the idea of easy income probably sounds like a dream. But there are loads of realistic opportunities for lazy people to make money.ย

Here is my ranking of the top 25 jobs for lazy people. For each of these jobs, I focused on work that is easy and doesn't require qualifications or experience.ย

I hope you find it helpful!ย

25. Virtual Chat Support ($10-15/hour)

This was once the gig for us lazy people, but sadly this kind of work is becoming harder and harder to find, with most of it now handled by AI. However, there are still a few jobs out there.ย

And if you can virtual chat support work, it's perfect. Talking over live chat, from your bedroom, for at least minimum wage. I suggest you look on Upwork or Indeed to start, as there are no dedicated platforms for this kind of work.ย

Pros
Cons
Work from home
Increasingly hard to find jobs
No physical work
Interaction with customers
Often full-time only

24. Mystery Shopper ($5-15/hour)

Mystery shopping these days often means going into a store, and then writing a detailed review about your experience of their customer service. You need to go in-person, and write reviews, but this is still quite a good gig for lazy people as the work is easy (plus, you get to feel like an actor or a spy).ย

However, this kind of work is very inconsistent and would need to be combined with other side gigs to replace full-time employment. Check out Market Force or BestMark to get started.ย

Pros
Cons
Interesting work, every day is different
Inconsistent work
Chance to test new products
May require detailed reports
Low-stress job

23. Voiceover Work ($10-15/hour)

As someone who used to do voiceover work, let me assure you this is easy work. All you need to do is read a script, from home, and then upload the audio.ย

The real problem, and the reason I rate voiceover work quite low, is that the industry is becoming very competitive. All the low-end jobs are now done by AI, and you need a great profile to get the higher paying gigs.ย

But if you have a good voice, and you still want to look for VO work, I suggest you start on Voices.com or Voice123.

Pros
Cons
Offers a creative outlet
Requires good quality recording equipment
Work from home
Often need to audition for jobs
Easy for strong speakers
Increasingly difficult to find jobs

22. Sell Stock Photos (Varies)

With a good camera and an eye for nice shots, selling stock photos on a platform like Shutterstock or Adobe Stock is one of the easiest ways to generate a passive income (the lazy person's dream).ย

As with voiceover work, however, this industry is starting to suffer the effects of AI. There are simply fewer paying customers in 2025, as many now rely on ai-generated alternatives.ย

Shutterstock.png

Pros
Cons
Potential to earn good passive income
Takes time to build a money-making portfoloio
No active work required after uploading photos
Highly competitive
Offers creative outlet

21. Transcribe Audio ($5-15/hour)

Again, AI is making this work harder and harder to find, so I have to put it lower on the list, but there are still transcription gigs out there, and they are perfect for lazy people.ย

All you need to do is sit at home with your laptop and a pair of headphones and get typing. The pay has never been great for this kind of work, but then it is very easy and stressfree.ย

To get started, I recommend applying withย TranscribeMe, I would also have said Rev, but they've stopped accepting applications for transcribers in 2025.ย

Pros
Cons
Simple, stress-free work
Can be very boring
Work from home
Increasingly hard to find work.

20. Rent Out Your Car ($25-100/day)

With sites like Turo, you can rent out your car and earn a passive income, which is the gold standard for laziness. Of course, you need to own a car that you don't use much, but if that applies to you this is a no-brainer.ย

The only real downsides are that you may have to deal with repairs if someone damages your car, and you should expect to have to pay more for year-on-year maintenance. But these costs will almost certainly be offset by the income you gain.ย

Rent Car Turo

Pros
Cons
Earn money without having to work
Risk of damage to your car
Great if you don't use your car often
Will raise your maintenance costs year-on-year

19. Library Assistant ($10-25/hour)

This isn't necessarily the easiest job in the world, as you will need to interact with customers and occasionally organize books. But, at least when I worked as a library assistant, most of the time I was reading behind the counter and waiting to scan people's books and library cards.ย

It's also a lovely environment to work in, with almost no "problem customers" and sociable hours. To find work in a library, I suggest you go in person to your local libraries and ask if they are hiring, while looking on traditional job sites like LinkedIn and Indeed.ย

Pros
Cons
Rarely dealing with difficult customers
Might require some physical movement
Low-stress, relaxed environment
Limited hours with many libraries underfunded

18. Online Product Tester ($5-20/hour)

With online product testing, you will be sent items to use at home. You will then need to respond to a survey about the product or write a review. And the benefits for lazy people are obvious, you can work from home, and you get free products to try.ย

However, this is the kind of side gig that normally only provides a few hours of work a week, so you will need to combine it with other suggestions to make consistent income. I recommend signing up withย Respondent to get started.ย

Pros
Cons
Work from home
Inconsistent work
Chance to try new products for free
Detailed reports may be required

17. Delivery Driver ($10-20/hour)

If you have a car, and you are happy to work at unsociable hours, this is an amazing lazy job. Put your podcast or music on the radio and drive from restaurants to apartments, it really is that simple.ย

You will need to be comfortable driving in dense urban areas, and your maintenance and fuel costs will go up, but this is a very consistent method to earn extra income. It could even replace full-time employment if you are willing to work a decent amount each week.ย

DoorDash and UberEats are the two obvious giants in the industry, and they are always hiring.ย

Pros
Cons
Very little customer interaction
Requires a vehicle and license, and comes with additional costs like insurance
Sit in your car, no physical work
Unsociable hours for best pay
Very flexible, you can choose when you work

16. Remote Customer Service ($10-15/hour)

If you have a good microphone and are willing to work as a customer service representative, which often involves angry customers, then this can be a great lazy job. You can work from bed with just a laptop, and the work itself is easy.ย

Most of these jobs have been outsourced to other parts of the world, and in the future AI poses a threat, but there are still a few companies that offer this work. Liveops are the industry-leaders, and a good place to start.ย

Pros
Cons
Work from home
High-stress dealing with upset customers
Fairly strong job security
Often required long hours

15. Online Surveys ($4-10/hour)

What do us lazy people love? Sitting in bed, probably doom-scrolling. Butย what if you could get paid to sit in bed and spend time on your phone? That's where online surveys come in.ย

With platforms like Freecash you can sign up in five minutes and begin responding to surveys for money. You will normally be asked about your shopping habits and your opinion on brands, so not exactly difficult questions.ย

Freecash Leaderboard

Pros
Cons
Start in five minutes with a smartphone
Low earning potential
Work as much or as little as you want
Can get boring
Work from home

14. Dog Walker ($5-15/hour)

If you love dogs, and you don't consider a walk too much effort, then this could be the perfect lazy job for you. Simply sign up on Rover or Wag!, make a good profile, and start arranging dog walking jobs in your local area.ย

The pay is low, but you get to hang out with dogs and get fresh air. The major downside is bad weather, which is simply unavoidable, but if you dress appropriately, there are certainly worse ways to spend the day.ย

ย

Pros
Cons
Very relaxed work, walking with dogs
Does require walking, not for the most lazy
A chance to get fresh air and do very light exercise
May have to walk in the rain

ย 13. Parking Attendant ($10-15/hour)

Here is another prime lazy job that the robots are slowly taking over, but it has not gone extinct, and it is perfect for those who just want to sit down and listen to music or a podcast all day. Well, you will occasionally need to walk around the lot to issue tickets, but that will be the most physical work you do.ย

The two biggest companies that operate the most parking lots are LAZ Parking and SP+, so start there when looking for work.ย

Pros
Cons
Very easy, almost no physical work
Can be boring
Can often sit and listen to music or a podcast during shift
May occasionally require you to deal with angry customers

12. Laundry Attendant ($10-15/hour)

There are fewer and fewer laundromats, and most no longer use laundry attendants. But this lazy job has not gone completely extinct, and if you can find the work, it is very easy. Boring, but easy.ย ย

You will largely have to spend time monitoring the machines, helping people exchange notes for small change, and keeping an eye on the place. These jobs won't appear online, go in-person to your local laundromats and ask if they are hiring.ย

Pros
Cons
No customer interaction
Can be boring
Very low-stress
Might require some physical labor

11. Movie Theater Usher ($10-15/hour)

Okay, having worked in a movie theater, I know it isn't always the easiest work (especially when cleaning up after movies popular with teenagers), but it is quite relaxed. Plus, the customers are usually in a good mood and you can watch free films.ย

To get started, I would suggest simply going on to the websites and career pages of the cinemas in your local area.ย

Pros
Cons
Often get to watch free movies
Unsociable hours
Customers normally relaxed
Cleaning up after shows can be hard work

10. Rent a Room ($40-150/day)

With AirBnB you can turn a spare room into passive income, which is perfect for lazy people. You will have to respond to messages from renters, greet them on arrival, and arrange professional cleaning, but those are all very minor tasks compared to the income you generate.ย

As with the car rental, I have to place this side gig slightly lower in the ranking because it requires you have the space to rent, but if you do, then this is another no-brainer suggestion.ย

Airbnb new yourk

Pros
Cons
Passive income, no actual work
Requires losing a room in your apartment or house
Very high earnings potential
Might have "problem customers" who can be very difficult to deal with

9. Hotel/Hostel Front Desk ($10-20/hour)

If you're a night owl and don't mind working odd hours, this is an easy, low-energy job. Most of your shifts will involve checking in late guests, answering calls, and generally keeping an eye on things.ย

In most hotels, especially smaller places, you will have mostly downtime to read and browse your phone. It can be boring, but that's often the price for lazy jobs.ย

I recommend checking both normal job sites and the individual career pages for hotels in your area.ย

Pros
Cons
Chance to meet adventurous people
Can be very boring, especially night shift
Very little physical work
May have to deal with problematic guests

8. Data Entry ($10-20/hour)

Data entry jobs still exist, but they arenโ€™t always glamorous. If you donโ€™t mind staring at a screen and typing numbers or text for hours, this is one of the easiest jobs out there. It requires little skill beyond basic typing and organization, and you can often work from home.

The downside? It can be tedious, and the pay isnโ€™t always great. Most data entry jobs are found online, so check freelancing platforms and remote job boards.

Pros
Cons
Often work from home
Often very boring
Can usually work while watching TV or listening to a podcast
Increasingly difficult to find work

7. Tourist Information Desk ($10-20/hour)

Info desks are becoming less and less common, and they aren't always stress-free, as you might have to field a lot of questions. But based on my own experience, you are normally fielding very basic questions from clueless tourists, and you do some from a comfy chair in a warm box.ย

Sure, the work can be boring, and you need to pretend to be enthusiastic, but this is easy work and sometimes comes with cool benefits like free entrance to attractions or discount travel (depending on where your info booth is).ย

Pros
Cons
Can be low effort if location isn't busy
Lots of customer interaction
Might get discounts or perks from the attraction
Requires enthusiasm and knowledge

6. Paid Gaming ($5-25/hour)

One of my favorite lazy side gigs isย paid gaming. You get to work from bed testing new games on your phone, and the returns are generous, especially when you reach a high level.ย

Another huge advantage of this method is that you can get started on a platform like Freecash in just five minutes, and you can withdraw the cash you earn however you want. Make sure to go for a game that interests so that you can keep playing for longer periods of time before it gets boring!ย

Freecash Earn Page Gaming

Pros
Cons
Work from home
Earnings can be inconsistent
Start in five minutes with a smartphone
Playing games can be fun

5. Rideshare Driver ($10-25/hour)

Becoming an Uber driver is a fantastic lazy job if you don't mind driving. And you don't even need a car, as you could lease one, like many drivers do.ย

Unfortunately, you will need to work unsociable hours for the best pay, and you will need to deal with drunk people, but you will have great flexibility and can simply listen to a podcast while driving around. Easy money!ย

Pros
Cons
Very consistent work, drivers always required in major cities
Unsociable hours provide best pay
Very flexible, work whenever you want
Requires gas and more regular car maintenance
Have to deal with drunk people frequently

4. Night Security Guard ($10-25/hour)

For quiet locations, this is a dream jobโ€”you mostly sit, monitor cameras, and occasionally walk around. And in the downtime, you can read a book or watch a movie.

You may need to be certified, but there are courses that offer certification for just a few hundred dollars, which can be completed in less than a week.ย

Once you're certified, you can find most security jobs on traditional job seeking sites like Indeed.ย

Pros
Cons
Very relaxed, often sitting and watching a monitor
Can be very boring
Can listen to music or a podcast while working
Night shifts are bad for your sleep and make sociability difficult

3. Participate in Research Studies ($10-25/hour)

Getting paid for answering questions, testing products, or even sleeping? Yes please! And some studies pay great money, but these are always competitive and will depend on a bit of luck.ย

Most research studies are offered by universities, I would therefore suggest looking online for universities in your city. You can also try a research company like Pinecone Research, but they only offer lower-paying, product-focused opportunities.ย ย

ย

Pinecone_Research_Surveys.jpg

Pros
Cons
Can make great money, especially in medical research
Very inconsistent work, hard to balance with other employment
Often no work, usually just providing opinions
Some studies could pose a potential risk to your health
Can be an interesting experience

2. House Sitter ($0-50/day)

Want to get paid just to physically be in a place? Then become a house sitter today. At most, you will be asked to water some plants.ย

The pay is not great, but you effectively get free rent while house sitting for a longer period of time, so when you consider that the pay is fantastic. You could also do one of the lazy jobs I suggested above while house sitting.ย

The best place to look for this kind of work is TrustedHousesitters, but you can also occasionally spot house sitting jobs on Craigslist.ย

Pros
Cons
Get paid to just be in a place
Inconsistent work, especially if you want to stay in one location
Usually means free accomadation
May require you to do chores like watering plants

1. Pet Sitter ($5-15/hour)

Yep, another sitter job in first place, but these are just perfect for the lazy among you.ย

If you like animals, this is a fantastic jobs.ย You'll mostly be feeding, walking, or just keeping pets company while their owners are away. Basically free money, and you can couple it with other side gigs like paid gaming.ย

The best place to find pet sitting jobs is on apps like Rover. The pay varies, but once you have a few decent reviews you can start going for $10+ an hour jobs.

Dog Walking website rover

Pros
Cons
Get paid to relax with pets
May have to deal with badly behaving animals
Very little work besides feeding
May be required to take animals for a walk
