Hextech Chests
Hextech Chests are back after the 25.05 update in March 2025, making it once again possible to earn free Lux skins or at least Champion Shards. You can earn free Hextech Chests by grinding out Summoners Rift matches and making progress on the seasonal pass.
Alternatively, you can spend much less RP on Hextech Chest in gambling for a Lux skin, however I advise against this as you could end up just losing valuable RP and money, unless you learn how to earn free RP fast.
My biggest tip is to save as many Capsules and Hextech Chests you earn as possible, and after a few months of playing, open them all at once so you have more to work with.
Champion Capsules
Champion Shards can be obtained either through Champion Capsules or Hextech Chests. You need to save up atleast 3 of these shards in order to roll for a permanent skin. This is one of the best chances to try for a free Lux skin. To get Champion Capsules for Champion Shards, the new updates have made it harder to aquire them.
Before, you could level up champions and earn free capsules through the seasonal pass. However, now you only have the pass to earn free Champion Capsules. They are rewarded extremly often, though, so if you play daily, you could easily win from 3 to 4 capsules a month.
Freecash
Freecash has many advantages compared to other methods of getting free Lux skin. You won't need to grind through any 30+ minute long LoL matches, or compete for higher ranks. All you have to do is complete online tasks of your choice and receive Freecash Coins as a reward.
These coins can be directly converted into cash, which you can cashout instantly. From there, you can use your rewarded cash to buy RP or a new Lux skin completely for free.
