Walmart won't give you cash for gift cards, but there are ways to sell them online, to friends, or via peer-to-peer marketplaces.
You're unlikely to get a 100% return on any gift cards you sell, with most online platforms offering around 80%.
Although it was once a solution, most stores will no longer allow you to buy a product with gift cards then return the same item for cash.
You can’t get cash directly from Walmart stores for their gift cards. But don’t worry: there are several legitimate ways to turn your Walmart gift card into cash.
Sell the Gift Cards Online
Trade with Friends or Family
Use Peer-to-Peer Marketplaces
Combine with Cash-Back Apps
Sell Your Walmart Gift Card Online (Return: ~65–90%)
For a fast and convenient solution, sell your Walmart gift card on third-party sites like CardCash. These marketplaces handle all the hard work for you, but they take a significant cut.
Typically, you’ll get about 65–90% of the card’s face value, depending on demand. Payments can go to your bank account or PayPal, and many sites have fraud protections in place to keep you safe.
This method is straightforward, but keep in mind, if you're willing to try and sell the card yourself you will get a better price.

Trade with Friends or Family (Return: ~100%)
The most cost-effective way to turn your Walmart gift card into cash is by trading with people you know. Ask family or friends if they’d be willing to buy your Walmart gift card for cash, ideally at or near full value.
This avoids any fees or waiting periods, and you can often get 100% of the card’s value instantly. If they shop at Walmart anyway, it’s a fairly easy sell.
Just be sure to verify the card balance first, so everyone knows exactly what they're getting. Don't want to upset any distant cousins and make Christmas awkward...
Use Peer-to-Peer Marketplaces on Reddit (Return: ~75–90%)
With a little more effort, you could sell your Walmart gift card on peer-to-peer marketplaces like Reddit’s r/giftcardexchange.
These communities let you negotiate directly with buyers for better rates than typical resale sites, often around 75–90% of face value.
To make one of these posts and try to sell your Walmart gift card for cash, the "[H]" means "have" and the "[W]" means "want". Your post should look something like:
[H] $50 Walmart [W] 85% PayPal
With a short description, asking people to message you.

Combine with Cash-Back Apps (Return: ~1–5% Indirect)
If you can’t sell your Walmart gift card, you can still recover some of its value by using it for normal purchases while earning cash back.
Apps like Ibotta and Rakuten will give you a percentage of your shop back in cash, but I recommend Walmart's own cashback program (Walmart Cash) available through their app.
It's not the same as getting cash for your Walmart gift card, but if you were going to buy groceries or household goods anyway, at least you will get 1-5% back.
