Adobe has a free 7-day trial of Adobe XD, but only if you use it through the Creative Cloud app. The free trial is great if you are someone like me who is still learning about how these tools work, or if you just need short-term access. 

It's pretty easy to download, and this is how you can get it started:

1. Download the Creative Cloud App from Adobe’s website.
2. Click “Free Trial” for Adobe XD.
3. Create or sign in to your Adobe account.
4. Enter payment details (required).
5. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged.

While the trial is only 7 days, you could use these 7 days to earn an extra $50 on Freecash. This way, if you need more time, you can pay for a month's worth of Adobe XD without touching your wallet.

Some users from Reddit, such as u/neozas report a workaround that allows limited continued use:

1. Start the free trial
2. Install and launch Adobe XD normally
3. Go to your Adobe account dashboard and cancel the plan immediately

If you are a new UI/UX designer, I would highly suggest you also try Figma (and not just stick with Adobe XD).

You also have platforms for Mac, like Sketch, with an affordable one-time license, which is used as an industry standard for many UI teams.

While Sketch is limited to one operating system, it's still a good option second to Figma.
