Ad-free music, offline downloads, and unlimited skips are worth paying for. Freecash covers the cost, but first, see if you can reduce the price.
Start With Official Spotify Discounts
Check whether you qualify for one of Spotify's own discounted plans before looking elsewhere. These are the most reliable ways to save long-term.
Official Free Trials
Spotify regularly offers free trials to new users, typically one to three months of Premium at no cost. To qualify, you must not have subscribed to Premium or used a trial before.
You'll need to provide a payment method. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid the standard monthly charge.
Spotify Premium Student
Students at accredited colleges or universities can access the Premium Student plan at a significant discount for up to four years. You'll need to verify your enrollment through a service like SheerID.
In some regions, including the United States, the plan also includes access to Hulu. Re-verification is required roughly once a year.
Spotify Premium Duo and Family
If you live with other people, sharing a plan cuts the per-person cost. Premium Duo covers two people; Premium Family supports up to six accounts.
All members must share the same physical address. Spotify enforces this during setup and may request re-verification later.
Sharing a plan with people outside your household violates Spotify's terms of service. For many users, get-paid-to sites are a more practical path to savings.
Spotify Basic Plan
In some markets, Spotify offers a Basic plan to select existing or former Premium subscribers. It costs slightly less than standard Premium because it excludes monthly audiobook listening time.
Log into your account on the Spotify website and check your plan settings. If Basic is available, it will appear as a switching option.
Cancelling a Basic plan typically means you cannot resubscribe to it later.
Check for Bundles and Prepaid Deals
Your mobile carrier, internet provider, or employer may already include a Spotify Premium subscription as a perk.
Carrier, ISP, and Employer Perks
Many companies partner with Spotify to bundle subscriptions. Some mobile carriers like Vodafone in the UK and Telekom in Germany include it in select plans.
In the US, some Starbucks employees qualify for a free subscription through their employer.
