In-Game Item Drops
Ther are multiple ways you can earn free Dota 2 items within the game itself. While these items are rarely Arcana, you can still expect some decent loot. If, however, you were placed in low priority queue or left a match without finishing, you will not receive in-game item drops.
There are multiple events that trigger item drops, such as:
- Matchmaking: Rewarded at the end of each match.
- Crownfall Events: You earn tokens for playing as different heroes.
- Candy Shop: Part of the crownfall events, the Candy shop is where you can open "candy bags" where you earn items.
Keep an eye out for the Crownfall events, and make sure you play fair in matchmaking, and you are well on your way to earning free items in Dota 2! But lets be honest, you can earn triple the amount you get in every day matchmaking loot if you play games on Freecash and earn rewards towards Dota 2.
Giveaways and Community Events
Giveaways and community events are always worth tracking down. Even if you do not partake in the community as often as others, most of the time the requirements to earn are easy. I would recommend following them on the Dota 2 official instagram or keep up with streamers on the Dota 2 twitch channel.
Whether its the official social media page announcing giveaways, or popular streamers providing promotional events, you can easily earn new skins and other items.
If you are not as active on community channels, no worries, I found out recently that in 2023 they had an update (the Frostivus update), which release free stickers, emoticons, loading screens and ward skin as the final reward.
You never know when these giveaways can take place, but when they do, the opportunity is big!
