Key Takeaways

  • You can earn Select and Premium skins for free through the battle pass or giveaways

  • Reward platforms offer tasks where you can earn up to $40 a day in Valorant skins

  • Riot hosts competitions that occasionally lead to ultra-rare Valorant skin rewards

I have been playing Valorant since beta in 2020, which has taught me the good, the bad, and the ugly about the best Valorant skins and how to earn them.

While Riot may not have provided gamers direct access to earning valuable skins for free on Valorant, the Valorant community has identified a few working methods that have gotten them some nice Select or even Premium skins to replace the default weapon looks.

Grind Out the Battle Pass

The battle pass on Valorant is a more consistent way to earn free Valorant skins within a 60-day period. While battle passes typically cost money, you can grind out multiple levels (typically to level 40) to sometimes earn a valuable Valorant skin as a free reward on the basic free Valorant battle pass access.

Vandal Skin in the Valorant Battle Pass

Not only could you earn free Valorant skins on the battle pass, but multiple other cosmetics as well, and even earn some Valorant points! Here are a few rewards usually the free-track battle pass includes:

  • x3 Player Cards
  • x3 Player Titles
  • x3 Gun Buddies
  • x2 Sprays
  • x2 Radiant Point Lots
  • x1 Free Side-Arm Skin

If you are like me and love to spend $10 (or 1000 points) here and there, the battle pass could be worth it as you gain access to highly valuable skins. While this isn't directly free, you could easily earn $10 a day on Freecash and get that battle pass without even touching your wallet.

Complete Agent Contracts

Agent contracts on Valorant give you instant rewards once completed. They are available for each agent; however, only one can be activated at a time. Each contract includes 10 levels, and you need to pass every level before reaching the free Valorant skin.

Omen Agent COntract with Free Cosmetics

I personally really enjoy these, as they're an easy way to earn free skins with no particular time restraint. You just need to play and earn XP as you go. Here, I have broken down which agent receives which weapon skin type so you can make sure your new skin matches which weapon you prefer most!

Weapon Type for Free SkinAgent Contract
SheriffBrimstone, Sova, Jett, Yoru, Harbor
GhostOmen, Cypher, Reyna, Astra
FrenzyPheonix, Breach, Skye, Neon
ClassicSage, Raze, KAY/O, Chamber, Deadlock
ShortyViper, Killjoy, Fade, Gekko

Pheonix Agent Contract with Free Weapon Skin

Like anything else in-game, you will have to grind rather hard for many hours. I was able to finish an agent contract within about a month as a casual gamer. However, if you have lots of time on your hands, you could speed-run through these contracts easily.

Complete Daily Tasks on Freecash

Although Freecash does not directly offer free skins through rewards, you can earn money to buy Valorant skins for free. Play mobile games, complete surveys, or watch some quick videos to instantly earn your first $5 toward your next Valorant skin.

Once you are ready to cash out, you can choose from multiple options, including PayPal, Gift Cards, or even cryptocurrency.

I love using Freecash to earn free skins for any of my favorite games, including free League of Legends RP. Sometimes, you can even earn up to $5 for free by simply signing up or spinning the wheel of rewards to help you earn your first $100 towards free Valorant skins.

Here’s how you set up an account:

  1. 1 Sign up to Freecash. Use your Google, Steam, Email, or Facebook account to get started.
  2. 2 Complete Tasks. Find some rad mobile games to test or complete some quick research surveys.
  3. 3 Collect your Earnings. Once you’ve earned $5 or even more, cashout and instantly use your fresh rewards to buy a skin in Valorant.

I know this could distract you a bit from Valorant itself, but you could easily earn some passive income by letting some short videos pass by or finding a cool AFK game to run while you're making your round in a Valorant match. I do this all the time, whether playing Valorant or even League of Legends.

Participate in Influencer Giveaways

Influencers in Valorant, like competitive eSport players or popular Valorant livestreamers, are always finding ways to collaborate with Riot to give away free in-game cosmetics. Meanwhile, you can easily earn free Valorant skins by following streamers on Twitch, YouTube, or even socials like X or Discord.

Here are some of the most active media sites I follow for free skins, and thousands of other Valorant gamers also follow.

  • Riot Twitter: Typically, the Riot Twitter account will post about giveaways, and it will go viral. So, as long as you follow them and check X constantly, you shouldn't have too many problems.
  • Tournaments: Watching tournaments on Riots' official tournament website always has events, including free in-game cosmetics, sometimes including cool skins.
  • Twitch: Follow players like Shroud and KyeDae, or alternatively browse the Valorant Twitch channel to find some favorites.

Some of the higher-value skins from Valorant are hard to earn this way, but you are sure to maybe earn cool bulldog skins or even a knife if you can get lucky. The downside about these giveaways is that they are few and far between, and even I have struggled with finding decent giveaways in time.

Submit Artwork to Riot Games

Quite a wild way to earn free Valorant points; however, you can buy some awesome Valorant skins for free if you submit cool artwork (Valorant related) to Riot. They use this artwork, if it's good, to display or share on social media, advertiser boards, or even for inspiration for possible concept designs.

To submit artwork to Riot, it doesn't have to be a master piece, but you will need to show some kind of effort. The most straightforward way to send them artwork is to go directly to the VALORANT Support Page and request to submit an artwork piece.
