Key Takeaways

  • Introverts thrive in independent, low interaction roles like data entry

  • Some low skill gigs like reward platforms pay quick small earnings that add up over time

  • As an introvert, you can earn thousands per month learning a skill like web development

As an introvert, side gigs can be very intimidating. There are so many options like working at a coffee shop, being a bartender, or being a remote support agent. These all sound great, but there is one major problem: People.

Working around others is stressful as an introvert, you always need to give so much energy just to appear friendly and fun. Who wants to do that in there spare time? What kind of introvert really wants to spend even more energy outside of their full time job to interact with others? Well, I don't. Which is why I found these awesome side gigs for introverts.

Data Entry Clerk ($15-$25/Hour)

Data entry jobs are some of the best options side gig options for introverts. As an introvert and socially anxious person, I really enjoyed performing data entry as it is more of a back office type of job, with no human interaction required. Most remote side gigs like this are found on FlexJobs, Upwork or Fiverr.

To really excel as a data entry clerk, it can take about one to two weeks to really get a hang of it. Here are some of my tips that helped me do well in this position:

  • Learn how to use Google Sheets and Excel
  • The aim is to be fast, don't run the time to earn more money, you'll lose the gig
  • Start with small, low paying gigs to help you get good reviews and visability

The average pay for a data entry clerk is about $15 to $25 an hour depending on the amount of work you are requested to do. I would not be surprised though if your first gigs only pay you starting from $8 to even $10 an hour. Its a very competitive market, so setting low rates can sometimes attract better clients.

Pros
Cons
Low skill entry
Could be low-paying at the beginning
Predictable and repetitive tasks
Long hours of sitting
Work from home opportunities

Blog Writer ($15-$40/Hour)

Whether you own your own blog, or write for others, this is one of the best jobs as a side hustle for introverts. I personally really enjoy this side hustle, as you spend a majority of your day alone, and you are in charge of your own tasks. WHile your job is to still connect with people, you do it behind a website, which is much easier than in video or in person.

When I was a blog writer, I would earn about $15 to $30 an hour, give or take. Most of the time clients will pay you per word, which as a beginner expect your rates to be from $0.02 to $0.03 per word.

As a blog writer and content writer, here are a few tips I used to help me become successful:

  • Choose a niche that you are passionate about
  • Align a writing schedule according to times you feel most creative/productive
  • Use tools like Grammarly and Hemingway to help you in self-editing.
  • Take courses on the basics of SEO on academy sites like SEMrush or Hubspot

While being a writer can take a year or so to master, websites and business will always need content to advertise their products and reaching a broader audience.

Pros
Cons
Scalable income and skill set
Lots of self-discipline
Work when and where you want
Inconsistent income
Creative freedom (after following basic guidelines)

Reward Platforms ($5-$25/Hour)

Reward platforms require the least amount of skill, but probably the most amount of dedication. Freecash however is the most rewarding app that pays you for playing games, completing surveys, and testing products. You can use Freecash at any time, and they offer hundreds of rewards for simply leveling up or completing daily quests in games or on your personal Freecash profile.

I have earned about $45 a week using Freecash, however there are many players who are making over $1000 a month, and earning huge bonuses (Up to $500) for making it as a top earner on the Freecash leader scoreboard.

Freecash is an instant sign up, with a welcome bonus of up to $100 depending on your luck at the fortune wheel. This is how I got started:

  1. 1 Sign up on Freecash using an email or even Steam account
  2. 2 Complete tasks on multiple games or surveys
  3. 3 Withdraw from over 21 cashout methods

A hint that I would give to make sure you earn high end rewards is to simply show up daily, and onlly start an offer if you know you will have time set aside to complete as many tasks as possible. Once your start an offer, time is against you. So the more time you spend on these tasks, the more you earn.

Pros
Cons
No special skills needed
Lots of dedication to earn higher pay
Flexible schedule
Can feel repetitive
Passive tasks like watching videos

Gig Worker ($10-$30/Hour)

If you are not super tech savvy, and you would prefer to work in person (but of course away from people), there is this app called Upshift where you can find short part time or weekend gigs washing dishes, dropping off packages, etc for around $200 each. A majority of these gigs do not require you to talk to anyone, just clean and leave.

I honestly found this super entriguing, and one of my new favorite side hustles for being an introvert. Even if its cleaning houses or pet-sitting, these small gigs require minimal human interation and you will still be able to be of help physically. It only takes a an hour or so to find a gig that fits you, here are some other websites that offer gigs:

  • Upshift: Find jobs at local restaurants, coffee shops or offices
  • Rover: Find pet-sitting jobs near you
  • TaskRabbit: Find jobs to clean homes or offices
Pros
Cons
Choose when you want to work
May require lots of driving or even travel
Choose from a variety of jobs
Some customer contact could be unavoidable

Web Development ($20-$60/Hour)

I know this may seem like a super high-skilled side hustle, but hear me out.

Coding and web development is one of the most introvert friendly side hustles. While there is a learning curve that could take a few months, the rewards for understanding code unlocks so many opportunities for some of the best jobs online

If you have time to dedicate to learning code, I would strongly encourage you. There are plenty of courses out there on Udemy for example, that cover all of the latest and updated training courses. Most jobs do not require you to have kind of college degree to start this career, either. While it could be helpful, learning without a degree and having a few courses under your belt gives you a huge advantage to getting a lot of great gigs.

It may take you from 2 to 6 months to learn a few coding languages, however you can easily start making from $20 to $60 an hour per gig. Here are some tips as an introvert I would suggest going into this side hustle:

  • Start with small projects or portfolio builds
  • Use platforms like GitHub to showcase your work
  • Keep communication clear and professional via email or chat

This is project based work, and you can typically work at your own pace. However if you start making more than a typical 9-5, its easy to quickly make this your lifelong career.

Pros
Cons
High income potential
Large learning curve
creative problem-solving
Tight deadlines causing stress
Project-based work
Need to constantly relearn code and uprising tech trends
flexible schedules

Graphic Design ($30-$100/Hour)

Graphic designers are in huge demand, and require very little to no interactions with others, making it a great introvert side hustle. As a graohic designer, you will create visual content for clients, which is a very focused niche opening up a high paying path for independent creativity.

The average graphic designer earns around $65 an hour, and ranging from $35 to even $100 an hour depending on the business and your skill set. You can find hundreds of graphic design gigs on freelancer platforms or even in corporate setting if you wanted go more into the full time aspect.

To really succeed as a graphics designer, I would make sure you focus on a particular design niche (logos or social media graphics), and use popular platforms such as Behance to showcase work.

Pros
Cons
Remote-friendly
Vague client feedback
Great opportunity to create an attractive portfolio
Competitive market
High scaling opportunity

Stream on Twitch ($0-$50/Hour)

While this sounds more like an extroverted side hustle, you can easily be a streamer without showing your face or even talking. Many streamers on Twitch or even Youtube share livestreams with just game sound, or even live streaming study sessions.

You can make a lot of money as a gamer on Twitch and Youtube if you put daily dedication towards it. I personally would go for this side hustle myself if I didnt live in a small space. Thats a horrible excuse as well, shame on me.

But seriously, if you want to grow as gamer but you are super introverted, here are the main takeaways:

  • Find a niche or gamestyle
  • Start hosting livestreams without camera or microphone
  • Engage with viewers strictly through chat

It could take about three to six months to really start gaining a good audience, however you can start earning well over $3000 a month as a simple side hustle on Twitch.

Cons
Fun and creative
Very competitive
Based on your own schedule and self-pace
Unless niched down a lot, there's lots of human interaction required
Potential for high income
