How to Get Free Gems in Merge Dragons

Gems are the main premium currency in Merge Dragons. You will need them for a ton of different things in the game, from using the shop to waking up your Dragons, but they are not cheap (50 Gems go for about $1.00 depending on the deal you find).  

There are several ways to earn Gems in-game, which are probably enough if you only play the game moderately. However, if you want to buy a lot of Gems, you cannot rely on in-game methods, you will have to use the free gift card method instead (which also works for getting free Dice Rolls in Monopoly Go). 

Get Free Gift Cards to Spend in Merge Dragons 

The fastest way to buy a lot of Gems is by earning Google Play and Apple gift cards on Freecash, then using those gift cards in Merge Dragons. This allows you to earn thousands of Gems at once, without spending your own money. 

How does it work? Freecash is a platform where you earn gift cards for completing simple tasks on your phone, including testing new mobile games. 

If you spend a few hours playing a similar merge game on Freecash, and then withdraw $20.00 via gift card, you could have over thousands of Gems by the end of the day. Probably more, given the average Freecash user makes 28,77 per day. 

Getting started on Freecash is easy: 

1. Login with Google or Facebook. 
2. Pick a game to test, and press the green button in the pop-up to install it. 
3. Complete the tasks we set, which normally invovle reaching a certain level. 
4. Once you hit $20, without your funds to Google Play or Apple gift cards.
5. Use your gift cards to buy Gems in Dragon Merge.

Login Daily for the Daily Rewards 

You won't get Gems directly from Daily Rewards, but you can eventually unlock Purple Dragon Stars, which can themselves be merged for Gems. 

The Daily Reward scheme doesn't actually require you to play the game for a set amount of time, all you need to do is login. 

Complete Quests for Dragon Stars 

When completing quests, you also have a small chance of finding Purple Dragon Stars, which can be merged for Gems. These are rare rewards, and you can't exactly jump ahead to high-level quests, but it is another source of Gems. 

Connect a Facebook or Google Account  

Press the cloud save icon in the bottom-left corner to bring up a menu that allows you to connect an Apple or Facebook account. When you connect either account, you get 25 Gems as a small reward. 

25 Gems won't go far, but this is also an incredibly fast and simple way to grind out a few more Gems. 

If You Do Buy Gems, Never Settle for the Standard Price 

And last but not least, a tip for all Dragon Merge players who have just started buying Gems: Never buy Gems at the standard price, there is always a deal to be found in-app. And if there really is no deal, simply wait a day or two, and you're likely to get one.
