Visa Gift Card Fees and Currency

Visa prepaid card withdrawals include a 5% fee. This fee is deducted from the amount you withdraw rather than added on top, so you receive 95% of the value you cash out. For example, if you withdraw $100, a $5 fee is deducted and you receive a $95 Visa prepaid card.

Visa prepaid cards are always issued in USD. If your Freecash balance is held in another currency, such as EUR, the equivalent amount is deducted from your balance at the current exchange rate.

Common Restrictions on Prepaid Cards

Prepaid cards come with certain rules to prevent misuse. Here are some common restrictions:

  • No Balance Transfers: You can't transfer money from one prepaid card to another.
  • Limited Payment Options: You may not be able to use your card for certain types of payments, such as PayPal, CashApp, or Venmo.
  • No Recurring Payments: Setting up recurring payments, like subscriptions or automatic bill payments, is usually not allowed.
  • No ATM Withdrawals: You typically can't withdraw cash from an ATM using a prepaid card.
  • No Fund Transfers: You can't transfer money from your prepaid card to a bank account.
  • No Credit Card Payments: You can't use a prepaid card to pay off a credit card balance.
