If you signed up to Freecash with a different email address than the one you use for Venmo, don't worry. You can enter the correct Venmo email address whenever you withdraw funds.

You will always be given the option to enter a new email address of your choice to send Venmo funds to. Your withdrawal payment will always be sent to the email address you provide during the cashout process, rather than the email address automatically associated with your Freecash account.

Please double-check this field every time you cash out to ensure your funds reach the correct account.

I entered the wrong Venmo address, what can I do?

If you have already initiated a withdrawal to the wrong address, there is a process to recover your funds. However, please note that once a withdrawal has started, it cannot be canceled, because the payment is sent directly to the email address you entered.

Almost all Venmo cashouts are now processed through our payment provider, Tremendous. Tremendous does not notify us whether a cashout has been claimed, so we are unable to see or reverse it on our end. To recover a payment sent to the wrong email address, you will need to contact Tremendous directly:

  • Email [email protected].
  • Provide the incorrect email address the cashout was sent to.
  • Provide your Transaction ID (you can find this on your Cashout page under "My Withdrawals").

Tremendous will then reach out to you to help resolve the issue.

Note: A small number of withdrawals are still processed via Tango. If your cashout was processed through Tango and remains unclaimed for 30 days, it will automatically be returned to us, and we can then refund the balance to your Freecash account.

What if I own the email address, but it is not linked to Venmo?

If you sent money to an email address you control that isn't yet linked to your Venmo account, you can simply add and verify that email on Venmo to claim the funds immediately.

To update or add an email in the Venmo app:

  1. Go to the Me tab.
  2. Tap on the Settings gear in the top right.
  3. Select Account under Preferences.
  4. Tap Profile.
  5. Enter the new email address in the Email field and tap Save.

To update or add an email on the Venmo website:

  1. Navigate to Venmo.com and sign in.
  2. Click Settings, then click Profile.
  3. In the Email Address field, enter your new email.
  4. Click Save Settings.

After adding the address, be sure to follow the link in the verification email Venmo sends you. Verifying the email right away is essential to claim your pending funds.

What if I entered an email address owned by someone else?

Unfortunately, we cannot recover funds if you entered an incorrect email address and the owner of that address claims the payment. Always verify the recipient's email address before confirming your withdrawal to ensure your funds arrive safely.
