Best Online Gig: Test mobile apps or become a virtual assistant using my tips and tricks
Best In-Person Gig: Pet-sitting can earn you the most without much responsibility required.
Easiest Gig: Complete online surveys daily and earn up to $100 a month
Most Rewarding Side Gig: You can earn $100 a month or more by being a farm hand.
With the internet and so many ways to connect with others and sell your time, you can easily make an extra $100 per month doing a side hustle or two. I used to be a full-time barista, which, as you can imagine, doesn’t pay corporate-level salaries.
However, I found multiple side hustles that kept me ahead of my bills, including some that launched me into my professional career. They are super easy, and only require maybe a couple hours out of your day. If you stay consistent, you can easily find yourself even more than $100, maybe even earning $500 per month.
House Cleaning ($15-$50)
House cleaning is a fairly easy side gig to get into. However, you could face a little competition with those who are in it for a full time job. House cleaning is a self-employment type of job, and if you do it right, you can easily charge each house from $50 to $100 per house (depending on size and tasks the house-owner requests of you).
You can easily find at least one or two regular houses to clean per month, charging $50. I used to clean my parents' house for about that much until my mom got too picky. At that point, I'm not a professional cleaner or anything; I am just providing a basic cleaning service.
To get started, I recommend you do the following:
1
Ensure Essential Supplies: Such as cleaning towels and cleaner sprays for the bathroom, furniture, and floor. Typically, homeowners let you use their products as well (ask first).
2
Find Clients: use socials like Facebook Marketplace, Nextdoor, or by word-of-mouth.
3
Negotiate a Price: Start by setting a price per house, but once you start being requested for larger projects, request per hour.
The best part about this gig is that you only need to work outside of your full-time job for a few hours once or twice a month. This leaves you with plenty of time to relax and still enjoy days off without worrying about work.
Pet Sitting ($20-$40)
Pet sitting is a fun and rewarding side hustle that can pay you a decent wage while you're practically sitting on your couch. Whether it's for a cat, dog, or even fish, plenty of people are on the lookout for reliable pet sitters using Rover, Wag!, or even close colleagues.
I once had a colleague who needed me to care for their puppy for a week. She ended up paying me $100 for the entire week. Most would say that isn't much or that I should have charged more, but honestly, as a new pet sitter, it was more than I expected.
There are three types of pet sitting you could look into such as:
Pet Grooming: A bit more than keeping up with the pet for a few hours, you clean, brush, and groom the pet's nails, hair, and teeth.
Dog Training: Training may require some practice, but it's a great way to add value while pet-sitting someone's dog.
Pet sitting is one of my personal favorite ways to make $100 in a month. If you love animals, this could be a perfect opportunity.
Baby Sitting ($12-$25)
Similar to pet sitting, but with a little bit more responsibility. Babysitting is a high-demand gig for reliable and responsible individuals. You can apply and create a nice babysitting profile on Care, SitterCity, or word of mouth from colleagues or family.
To better build trust on these types of platforms, or to really get into this if you can't offer your service by word of mouth, here are some ways you could build confidence in parents to hire you.
CPR and First Aid: Be certified in CPR and first aid to ensure that if any kind of accident happens, you know what to do.
References: Use references from other parents or babysitters who can pitch in a good word for you and how well you are around children.
Background Checks: Offer background checks, whether criminal, drug, or even just a driver's record.

Food Delivery Driver ($15-$60)
If you have a reliable vehicle or even a bicycle, you could easily get an extra $100 per month by making money from Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub. You can make maximum earnings by working during peak hours or using multiple apps at once.
I have seen many Uber Eats drivers have multiple apps running at the same time, and they will claim whichever offer they think pays better.
To make the most of your time as a food delivery driver, choose high-paying orders first and be super efficient to earn extra tips! I would personally recommend an e-bike if you live in the city to avoid gas fees or car maintenance issues.
Also, be aware that being an Uber Driver makes you self-employed, so don't forget to save a bit to put towards taxes.
For five years, I worked as a helper on a horse farm, helping with daily clean-up tasks, including deep cleaning of leather work, horse stalls, storage, and even painting/designing training obstacles.
After about three full months of commitment, I would earn an average of $30 an hour. I would go every day for about four hours. I also happened to have good experience competing with horses, so each horse I would ride would account for about $35 each lesson, as my trainer needed riders to keep up with the horse's daily exercises.
If you have a passion for the outdoors or farms in general, it's super easy to get started in and relaxing to do after a long day of work. You can find positions to be a farm hand through Facebook marketplace, word-of-mouth, or even on Indeed.
From my experience, I think the best way to find a good part time job is simply going to a local farm that you know about or are familiar with and talk to the people there. Farms are super laid back, and don't really care how formal you are. Neither do you need any type of skill to work at one. Just be ready to pick up a few heavy things, smell shit, and feel comfortable around large stock animals.
Virtual Assistant ($10-$50)
Being a virtual assistant is so easy. I did this while working as a barista, and it was honestly the greatest side gig that got me $100 extra per month. I would work about 5 hours a week, completing tedious tasks like inputting data into an Excel spreadsheet or organizing Google Drive folders via employer request.
You can easily find these types of jobs on freelance platforms like Upwork or even Fiverr. Just create a convincing profile highlighting your skills that could be beneficial for being a virtual assistant. A few skills you could highlight would be:
Communication via Email and Text
Knowledge in Google Docs, Excel, Sheets, etc
Data Entry Exp (x Years)
Google Calendar
These are some basics, depending on the contractor, they could request you to use other platforms like Notion, Miro, Discord, etc.
Test Mobile Apps ($5-$25)
Make an extra $100 a month by testing mobile apps on reward platforms like Freecash. Freecash is the most rewarding way to do this, as you receive multiple offers daily, with personal quests that offer a personalized reward experience.
I personally really enjoy using Freecash, they have thousands of games and apps to test and play daily. They even have a leaderboard that current users compete with to earn up to $500 based on achieving tasks in-app.
You can easily earn your first $50 on Freecash within the first couple weeks; I remember receiving around $150 my first month.
If you want to check it out, here are the steps I took to get started on Freecash:
1
Sign up: Either with your email, Facebook, Google, or even Steam account for free on Freecash.
2
Earn a Small Bonus: Sometimes up to $100 if you spin the wheel and test your luck.
3
Complete Tasks: Featured on the earning page, you can choose from over 15.625 offers with step-by-step tasks included in each.
4
Cashout: You can use their wide variety of options, including Paypal, crypto, or even gift cards such as Visa, Amazon, or Blizzard.
You can also complete online surveys and help with market research, which I will explain more about later in this article.

Online Surveys and Market Research ($10-$25)
Similar to testing mobile apps, Freecash also offers online surveys and market research opportunities. Each survey is only a few cents, but if you show up consistently, the algorithm starts to offer you more rewards and better products.
The whole point of filling out these surveys or taking part in market research panels is to help companies better understand the dynamics of their customers. Companies use your answers and average your preferences to the rest of the data. This helps them improve their product or service by better understanding what individuals need.
Stream on Twitch ($5-$50)
A fun option, which I wish I had delved into deeper on a personal note, would be streaming on Twitch. Twitch streaming takes a long time to set up a good following that is willing to donate from time to time. You may also struggle with patience on this one. However, patience is the key to success.
To start streaming successfully on Twitch, start by organizing some basics:
Set up the channel, create a bio
Choose a niche like gaming, ASMR, or just chatting.
Create a stream schedule
Connect your Youtube to Twitch for repurposed content
From here, you are well on your way to performing a successful streaming side gig and hopefully earning at least that extra $100 per month.
Cash Back Apps ($20-$25)
While you may not be directly receiving $100 per month extra, you can save more than $100 through cash-back applications like Fetch and Ibotta. Whether you earn money by scanning receipts or just want to play your favorite games and earn money for it. Pogo and Idle Empire are also great sites for earning money back from playing your favorite games.
To get started on cash back apps, I recommend downloading more than one so you can choose the best for your reward stack. You could even mix Freecash into this lot and possibly make even $100 a week.
