How to Get Free Food at Burger King

It's no secret that Burger King are now far smaller than McDonald's, but they're still kicking and fighting back with great deals and discounts. 

While student and military discounts are now quite rare, and elderly discounts basically non-existent, there are still dozens of ways for everyone to enjoy free food at Burger King! 

Download the Burger King App and Get a Free Whopper with Your First Order

We're going to mention the app a lot here, but that's because it's simply the best way to order and collect loyalty points (which is true of all fast food chains). 

1. Download the Burger King app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
2. Sign-up for Royal Perks (the BK loyalty program).
3. Go to "Offers" and look for the "free Whopper with first purchase over $3" deal.

This works in most US states and the UK. Although it will not work in most of the rest of the world, I still recommend you get the app to enjoy the other offers. 

Join Royal Perks Rewards and Order Exclusively Through the App 

Once you've got the app and signed-up, you will automatically start collecting loyalty points, which can be redeemed in the Rewards section of the app. 

You earn 10 points per dollar spent, and a Whopper meal is 400 points (effectively, you need to spend $40). That's actually fantastically generous, more so than the McDonald's loyalty program, for instance. 

They also used to offer a free upsize to Royal Perks members every day, but this has (devastatingly) since ended.  

Claim a Free Whopper on Your Birthday 

If you've joined Royal Perks, you not only earn double points throughout your birthday month, you will also be entitled to a free Whopper on the big day. 

1. Join Royal Perks via the app, and make sure to enter a birthdate for your profile. 
2. On your birthday, you should receive either an email or in-app notification with a new exclusive deal. 
3. Redeem the Offer either via the app or showing your email at the counter. 

If you want to guarantee you have free Burger King on your birthday, I recommend setting your birthdate to be a few days before the actual day. You could couple it with hundreds of other free birthday food deals. 

Use Gift Cards from Freecash to Fund Your Burger King Orders 

If you want a way to sustainably get free Burger King, or at least to get BK without using any of your paycheck, consider paid game testing on Freecash. This is a fun, easy way to earn extra money for treats like Burger King, and getting started is a simple: 

1. Login to Freecash using your Google or Facebook account, or create a new account with email.
2. On the "Earn" page, look for "Gaming Offers", and find a game that appeals to you. 
3. Press the green button to download the game, allow tracking, and complete the tasks set by Freecash.

 And before you ask, yes, you can add coupon codes to app orders and guarantee you don't miss out on points. 

Complete Survey Receipts at Burger King 

Always read your Burger King receipts, and keep them if you see anything like this: 

You can use the receipt to get free Burger King food by completing a survey. 

1. Enter the survey code at My BK Experience.
2. Complete the questions (usually simple stuff about the quality of service). 
3. Finish the survey and receive a coupon code for free food (usually a Whopper).

I check every time, and you would be shocked how common these survey receipts are. Honestly, I just wish more places offered paid surveys. 

Check for Local Discount Codes on 3rd-Party Sites

While Burger King would like everyone to simply use the app, they also know a great many older people won't. As a result, they still advertise coupons in magazines and newspapers, and thankfully there are hundreds of third-party sites that collect these codes. 

1. Search "Burger King Coupon Code [Your Region/City]".
2. Check for coupon websites, and collect codes you want to use. 
3. You can apply the codes in-app, at a self-service kiosk, or at the counter. 

These are rarely the very best deals, but you might find something you like. 

Check for Current Promos on Burger King's Social Media 

Besides simple, one-time coupons, Burger King also host much grander promos. For instance, at the time of writing, BK were celebrating "National Burger Day" (which I did not realize was a thing), which meant you could get two Chicken Royales for the price of one. 

To check for these promos, I recommend following the Burger King social media channels for the country you are based in.  

Use Competitor Coupons at Burger King 

This blew my mind when I first discovered it. Many Burger King locations will accept McDonald's coupons.

• Check with your local Burger King whether they accept competitor coupons.

You will not get the same item, of course, but the equivalent. For instance, a 2 for 1 Big Mac coupon would probably get you 2 for 1 on Whoppers if your BK accept the coupons.
