  • Most interesting gig: Predict sports regression using analytic proof and earn up to $35 an hour.

  • Fastest paying gig: perform data entry tasks such as completing excel sheet tasks or filling out internal data forms.

  • Easiest long-term gig: Being a data/technical writer can get you long-term gigs that pay up to $60 an hour.

Give Fantasy Football Regression Analysis ($25-$35/Hour)

Regression analysis is a rather easy side hustle that pays data analysts pretty well if its about sports. Most likely you will spot gigs with fantasy football due to its popularity. A lot of sports fans use these regressions to help them know who to watch and which players hold more value.

You can find gigs really quick on sites like Upwork or Freelancer, where they will request for thorough analysis and predictions for the next football season. Most analysts get into this as a freelancer at first, however you could easily get some good experience and start working part time for some official broadcasters such as ESPN SportsCenter

You can easily earn from $25 to $35 an hour writing up these predictions. While they arent super hard to write up (3-4 hours for one project), it gives you the freedom to still have a decent time off from your 9-5 without intruding too much into leisure time.

Invest in Stocks or Crypto Trade ($10-$10k Year-End Return)

Stock investmentsMedium6 months-1 Year

Being a data analysts, its much easier to predict stocks, and sometimes even crypto trading opportunities. This way, you could potentially earn a decent year end return ($10 up to $10,000 depending on intial investment), or if you feel risky, try out day trading and earn the same within a few days.

Investing is usually meant for long term investments such as retirement or maybe improve lifetime savings.  However, you can easily get into day trading or short-term trading if you can use your analytic skills to predict possible bull runs.

Usually getting a hang of this could take a couple of months or so, as the market only shows results after a few months of investments (unless you day trade).

What is day trading?

Day trading is a much riskier, short-term investment strategy that involves a lot of brain power and analytical skills. You would need to study up on more than just what you already know. Day trading can be a lot of gamble, and uncertainty.

I am not here to give any kind of financial advice when it comes to trading, as there is no paved road towards how to correctly day trade and what to put your money into. This is all based on your own research. Which could take some time.

If you are interested in day trading, check out Craig Percoco's guide on day trading for beginners. He lays out an honest approach towards how it works and what to expect.

Provide Stock Market Analysis ($25-$30/Hour)

If you do not feel like putting your own money at risk of the market, you could always analyze the market for other investors. Whether that means you write your predictions, or provide visualized examples for social media or video platforms.

There are many investors out there that search YouTube for possible predictions and analytical assumptions based on raw, authentic data. Youtubers such as Alex Becker or Doyle Exchange usually give honest predictions and experienced opinions on their niche (crypto or forex).

As you see in this image of Alex Becker explaining the predictions of tiny crypto altcoins, he is not someone to be taken seriously (or you wouldn't think), however he does call out reliable predictions from data even if its a bit off from what eventually happens.

The easy way to do this is by offering predictions in writing, so writing blogs for other companies through Upwork, or creating your own blog and optimizing it for Google search. Alternatively, and the harder way to earn, would be to create your own Youtube channel, however this is the long-term route and harder to achieve any money.

To avoid all of this, I like to play on an app called Freecash where you could play games and win money through testing out products. You dont need to predict anything, just your own time put towards earning rewards.

Write Analytics and Data Info ($40-$60/Hour)

Side hustleEntry levelTime until paid
Freelance data writerEasy1-2 days

One of the fastest and easiest jobs you could do as a data analyst is writing blog articles or long-form tech articles. There are tons of websites that have this job in high demand, and they are looking for writers on freelancer platforms or even on job searches for tech writers on LinkedIn.

I am a writer, so I know for a fact these jobs are easy to come by on websites like Upwork or even Fiverr. However being a tech writer could require extensive proof of knowledge and sometimes to write sample articles. These articles are then displayed on blogs or company pages on social media, which you could get paid for from $40-$60 an hour for completing.

Since it can be an easy market to get into, you may face some competition to land solid gigs. But usually you do not need to spend more than a day or two applying. Especially if you search in the right places (like I mentioned on Upwork and Fiverr).

Freelance Data Entry Gigs ($20-$30/Hour)

Data EntryEasy1-2 days

I have personally done multiple data entry jobs on freelancer platforms and its probably one of the easiest gigs you could get. If you are a data analyst, it would be that much easier to not only perform the job but also land multiple gigs within just a day

Data Entry gigs are one of the fastest ways to earning $1,000 extra a month by simply performing small technical tasks. Whether you are filling out Excel sheets or performing data entry within private platforms, its hands down one of the best side hustles out there.

I know I mentioned applying for data entry gigs on freelance platforms, however you can also search for admin assistant roles that include rather similar expertise that sometimes a CEO or a small business owner just doesnt have time to do.

Usually this only takes about 2 to 3 hours a day, 5 days a week (or less). It really depends on the gig type you apply for, and how many hours you are willing to give each week.
