AMC A-List Program
If you have AMC theaters near you, you are in luck. Thousands swear by this discount program that makes movies cost only $1.60 per ticket. By only paying $20 a month (or $25 depending on your location), you can go to three movies per week completely for free.
This is one of the best deals for movie goers, especially for me because I simply can't justify spending $40 to $60 for a single move night. The program also includes IMAX, DOLBY and 3D movies, completely free. All you need to do is sign up for the monthly subscription at your local AMC cinema or at the official AMC webpage.
A few other perks you can enjoy using the A-List program includes:
- Free size upgrades on popcorn and fountain drinks
- Free ticket reservation online
- Earn cashback for spending over $50 on snacks and other features within AMC
- Free birthday rewards including large drink and popcorn
I personally used this program a lot when I lived in Oklahoma, and it was one of the best programs money could buy. Whil you still need to pay $20 a month, you can enjoy so many movies as often as you want, for a price of just one ticket. Its honestly an insane deal, I almost feel like I get paid to watch movies instead.
Sam's Club Discount Program
If you are near a Sam's Club, this is another amazing discount program, coming as a close second to the AMC A-List. While you may not get all of the extra offers directly for theater purchases, the Sams Club discount offers movie tickets for $9 per person. Although its not rightly free, you have the ability to watch some popular films for half the price, easy.
The program covers multiple cinemas, unlike the AMC program, you can also get major discounts from:
- Regal
- AMC
- Cinemark
- Showcase Cinemas
- Edwards Theatres
- Marcus Theatres/Movie Tavern
- United Artists
- LOOK Dine-in Cinemas
All of which you can get a discount up to 40% depending on location and theater. You can also purchase discounted combos with popcorn drinks and even candy depending on your preferences. You can buy tickets directly from the Sam's Club movie discount webpage.
Independent Theater Promotions
There are hundreds of independent theaters that are typically with lower prices and sometimes even free movie nights. Usually you can find local theaters near you in Google Maps or in Google Search. For example, MovieLand 8 had $5 tickets which included popcorn, drinks and art house/foreign films that dont regularly play at multiplex cinemas.
While you may not find many discounts like this often, going to a local theater and simply asking for their discounts or latest promotions is one of the best ways of finding good deals near you.
Second Run Theaters
Theaters that run movies for a second time usually offer the movie for free. These are usually the best offers, however you will be needing patience and be willing to wait a few months or even a year before newly released films make it back to these small cinemas. However, this is a great way to get movie tickets for free without over spending for a pleasant night out.
When I lived in Oklahoma, there was a cinema called Warren Theaters, and they would do reruns of Avengers, Dune, and other popular films. Especially during the holidays, you can watch some of your favorite classics. I really enjoy movie theaters giving this option to movie goers, as it could really make up for a nice evening.
